Our lead engineers were responsible for the building services engineering at Meadowhall Shopping Centre near Sheffield. The overall project cost was approximately £120M and incorporated fully themed Mediterranean food courts.
The site required an electrical capacity of 28MW and over 4km of data cabling. The concept design maximised the use of natural ventilation to maintain satisfactory internal comfort conditions. Detailed monitoring of internal temperatures has resulted in a number of operational changes to reduce energy costs.
The centre incorporated the most up-to-date life safety systems, including addressable fire alarm and smoke control systems. Since opening, our engineers have undertaken various commissions for refurbishment of the Oasis Food Court and other on-site leisure facilities, including an 11-screen Warner Brothers cinema.
